Entangled Cat Cafe is proud to present Godiva, our cat of the month for September. This little lady is as sweet as the chocolate she's named after. Godiva was born in foster care with Circle of Friends Animal Society on August 16, 2019. She was adopted as a baby. Like Ms. Frizzle, our July cat of the month, Godiva's story took a turn for the worse sometime in the past year.
Godiva was adopted as a kitten in 2019 and lived in northwest Georgia. On June 9, 2023 Godiva was found unable to move by a man in his backyard after having apparently been attacked by another animal. It looked bad for sweet Godiva, and this good Samaritan took her to a local vet to be euthanized so she would not suffer. The vet scanned Godiva and found her microchip registered to COFAS. They contacted one of the COFAS volunteers asking for permission to keep Godiva through the weekend for x-rays and to see just how bad her injuries were. The volunteer gave the vet permission to evaluate her and a credit card for x-rays and treatment.
Fortunately, it turned out Godiva's injuries were not as bad as they originally appeared. She had only one wound on her back leg that the vet was able to treat. Godiva was given antibiotics and had other tests run to verify her health. After keeping her through the weekend for evaluation, Godiva was released back to a COFAS foster home to recover and stay isolated for 10 days. COFAS tried contacting Godiva's original adopter but got no response.
Godiva has recovered nicely in foster care and is now healed and available for adoption. She's a beautiful Torbie cat (Tortoiseshell/Tabby mix) who is understandably a little shy and skittish after all she's been through. She loves being petted after she warms up. Godiva is now looking for her purrmanent home with someone who will be patient while she overcomes her shyness and fear and will love and cherish her forever, as she deserves.
